Default Cam gears vs hydraulic chain tensioner

I have spent a couple of weeks reading everything I can find on the +/- of replacing the OEM cam chain tensioners on the old 88's with the updated hydraulic tensioners and roller chains as well as what I can find on changing to gears.

Since I am going to be changing cams anyway, what would argue toward the chain drive vs gear drive decision. (cost aside)

I am leaning toward gears at the moment.

I am not planning on doing any other engine work at this time.

From what I read, the biggest factor is crank runout. You just need to check that before deciding on what to buy.

gear drive is not the best option for street riders .
If you have the old tensioners then update them but avoid the gear drive . 90% hipe Was a short term cure to a short term problem and ever sense there has been some urban legend attached to them

Clearly, gear-drive is not appropriate for unmodified Twin Cam engines due to possible crankshaft pin shift.

Thanks for the education, guys.
