Question 88" upgrade

This is probably a silly question, but will the barrels and pistons from a 96" fit on a 88" ?

They should they are the same size. Only difference is a 96" has a .375" longer stroke on the crank. Pistons and cylinders are the same size.

Thanks, that sounds like to reap the benefits of a 96" you would have to change the crank?

Bigger pistons and jugs will get ya to 95" and run like a banshee so long as you get the right cams and head porting. You won't have to split the cases.

Thank you for the info. I have seen 96" parts go for cheap on ebay and was curious.

+1 for the above. The same size pistons as a 95" Kit on an 88" makes the 96" into a 103" because of the stroke. To my knowledge you will get nothing from the 96" heads because you have the same pistons as in the 88" and more room to drive them.

95" kit is the way to go.

So an 88" has the same bore as a 103" or 110"?

NO!!!! Not the same bore, but fitment of the cylinder itself is the same. Lets not complicate this any. The part # from HD is the same. The jug is the same, the hole inside can be bored to quite a few different sizes. Now what about axtell jugs??? Or any other number to get our minds distracted with???

How is this complicated exactly???? If you have a stock TC 96'' and switched cylinders with a stock TC 88'', there would be no change at all.

Or if I put Jims 131'' jugs on my bike I have 131''?

Seriously though the bores vary. The stock cylinders don't. Which I think is what the question was.

I think the only one complicating things is you, friend.
