Default 74 XLCH project (with love from Dad)

I am two weeks from driving up and picking up my dad's 1974 XLCH. It was winterized about 15 years ago and has been trailered and pushed from garage to garage ever since. I am not a mechanic, but I am pretty handy and I can follow directions well. My last project was his 1929 Ford Model A pickup that had not run in 10 years and is now a regular fixture rumbling around my neighborhood.

Since this is my first project, I am looking to get a feel for where to start and what I can expect from this jewel about to grace my garage. I have been trolling for about a week and I have found many friendly experts with sound advice on this site.

In addition, I have the Clymer Harley-Davidson Sportsters 1959-1985, Service, Repair, Maintenance book on the way from Amazon.

Any help, advice or warnings are greatly appreciated.

Greg
