Hey Paul, yes the W6 has very good Manors in the low RPM range but it's really not a low end cam like the EV13.. In fact W6 comes on just a tad later than the EV27.. I ran that cam for a very long time and it loves compression.. It will do ok at 10.0:1 but truly favors 10.3-10.5:1 and will come on strong at 2800 rpm..
OK, thanks.
Looks like not really all that much to gain with a W6 cam swap, if it doesn't really come alive until 3000rpm....

The W6H cam?? - I know you have run this cam before, right? This could be a good option for more low end TQ?

The only thing I've never done before is clearancing the case for the high lift cam.... How difficult is it?
Thanks.

Paul
agreed.
The only reason I would change out the EV13 is for a set up that would see significant gains to make it worthwhile....

The W7 closes the intake too late (46) and w(bigger valves and a valve job).... ould not be ideal in a heavy bike because you would lose low end torque. They claim the power starts at 2200 but I'd guess it's closer to 2500 unless everything else (exhaust, heads, ignition and carb) is perfectly matched.

W7 22/46 - 48/20 248 - 248 .500 - .500 .196 - .184

Paul
I can live with power coming on at 2500rpm with the W6H or W7 set up correctly with exhaust, heads, carb and ignition etc....

What exhaust would you suggest as a good match?

Besides clearancing the case you're going to have to get different valve springs because the stock heads won't accept a lift of the W6H.. Also it ain't going to give you all that low end torque that you think you're going to get with that cam unless you bump the compression..

Yes, 10.5 comp is what id be aiming for.
yes, 600 lift valve springs I can do fairly easily when I'm getting the valve job done.

Got word from Bob Wood, and he also suggested I run the W6 cam with compression up to 10.5 comp. Max torque and power with stock heads.
Looks like this is a decent option with the addition of a valve job...
Thanks for all the advice guys, Looking forward to this build.

ok, since no one has asked, i will. what kind of carb and exhaust are you going to be using? they play a part in this as well and should always be considered in the equation.

S&S super E carb with high flow wide filter
Std headers with slip on mufflers (haven't got the mufflers yet, not sure which ones to get).
thanks
