Default So I did the unthinkable today-

So yes, I tried it. While installing new lifters and the quickie pushrod kit, my engine bit off a large piece of chopstick that I had stuck into the cylinder to find TDCC. Actually it was both cylinders, according to my little earwax camera. After trying everything under the sun to get them out, I saw a piece stuck inside my exhaust valve with the camera. So I said, well if I’m going there anyway, I might as well go in-style! I started that MF up and aside from burnt wood smell coming from the exhaust, it still runs like a champ.
I know I’m not the only one who has thought about this so I just thought you outta know…

I got lucky with a spray straw once. It was all in and I was about to give up and tear it apart. Then I rolled motor over one more time and it showed itself right in the center of the spark plug hole. With large tweezers I clamped down hard and yanked it out.

You guys realize that there's no need to be putting foreign objects in the spark plug holes to adjust the valves. Watching the position of the lifters when rotating the crankshaft is a much better method. Adjust the intake pushrod as the exhaust is just starting to open and adjust the exhaust pushrod as the intake has just closed.

Get a long straw from one of those fast food dumps, take your time and you'll never have a problem. Got three in my tool drawer for this type of work.

Ride safe!

Why are you sticking a chopstick in the plug hole?? Want to sample the carbon? Use a straw and snort it..

Use a screwdriver with big enough handle that won't go down the plug hole.

I rigged up a small tube to the shop vac and pulled three short pieces out that I had spied with a camera. Made my day.
