What does it accomplish that the "long" one doesn`t ?

The long plug causes sumping but according to the "inventor" this solves all of your problems lol. Apparently during the king of the baggers during prolonged high rpm operation on motors that none of us will never have the longer plug blocks a small percentage of the sump hole causing sumping...come on its true...you know you want to spend 13 bucks plus tax and shipping to buy a 2 dollar plug. And tell your buddy to be careful installing it because he wouldn't be the first guy to over tighten a sump plug and crack the engine case. But at least he'll solve a problem that never existed on the softail m8.

It must have a hole in it if it fixes sumping.

he ordered it for $18, his thinking is it can’t hurt and won’t break the bank. Like the title of the book, never leave well enough alone.

I replaced mine but just bought a 1/4NPT HEX plug at hardware store and cut 3 threads off. Total cost $1.99.

So we went from M8s don't sump (this was the word here 5 years ago) to a 1/4" shorter sump plug solves a sumping problem? Amazing...Right up there with requiring exhaust with back pressure.
Stay tuned for the next M8 wonder. Maybe it can float?
