Default Evo engine question

I just purchased a 87 FXRC all in pieces and it came with a Delkron case and S&S top end. 2 spark plugs per cylinder and setup for compression release and a pre-flow oil pump. The engine is brand new. My question is has

anyone ever heard of this engine setup? And if so would you have any info on it? And would you know what it's worth if I would sell it and go with a basic Evo engine.

Cool

Have you tried talking to the previous owner..? The original engine was replaced for some reason. Delkron has a good name as far as cases go. S and S too. But only the PO can give you the entire story.

Suspect that's bigger than stock build, more cubes. Only way to tell is pop a head and measure the piston size and stroke. Not a big fan of Delkron cases, they always needed some machine work to clean them up and get everything square, that trap door was a leaker without gobs of sealers on it.

Pull it down and see what you have, could be a good build and you'll at least know what it is if you decide to sell it, knowledge is money in that game.

Yes but does he know why the original engine was replaced? He may know the whereabouts of the original cases....and he should know what he bought to replace it even if he didnt finish it. If he doesn't know the answers to these simple questions, he may have just bought someone else's basket case for a song and sold it to you for a profit. Was the title in his own name?

That sounds a bit fishy but might not be a big thing.
Short of breaking her open (head at least) I'm not sure what you'd do.

Buying a basket case is most always a gamble

A FRX bike safe bet the original motor was blown. Those and the early dyna's are the hotord kiddies go to machines for stunt riding.

Without knowing what's in the motor I would do a complete tear down, check your runouts on your crank, check your lifter bores, check your rod end play everything.. Bore n stroke, rockers. You have no idea what's in this motor and there's no way for us to help you without you giving us information as the current condition of the motor.. Usually delkron cases are used when people build bigger inch more powerful motors.. Another reason you want to know what's exactly in the motor is so you know what size carburetor to use and how to properly jet it.. it's out Don't take a chance figure out what it is and what condition it's in then let us know..
