2016 Street - no power when in gear
Hi,
we have been looking at a friends 2016 Street 500 as it’s having issues. Standard bike with no mods.
Engine starts and idles fine. Responsive when you rev it it will increase revs however when you put in gear and go to take off it has no Power in at all.
I don’t mean like the clutch is slipping it’s like the engine doesn’t have enough power to move the bike. It feels limp and almost like it’s not getting enough fuel or air or something!!!
it will still get you moving but very slowly and even at full throttle in gear the revs are very low
If you pull the clutch in it will idle and rev up fine.
check Engine light comes on and goes off but don’t have access to pull codes. I’ve checked the basics air filter, fuel lines, coil, spark plugs so far and all appear fine.
Given that it idles and revs fine I’m at a loss and looking for advice on what to check next or if anyone has experienced similar issue
cheers

I had a 750 that did something kind of simliar,,,ended up being a timing issue. This engine is different than most other HD's. The flywheel/rotor on the left side of the engine is keyed to the shaft. This sets up the base timing for the engine. The bike i had had sheared this key and allowed the rotor to shift position, hence changing the base timing. Might be worth a look to see if the timing marks are linging up correctly and the key is not sheared off.
