Hylift 2313se lifters - how many turns?

If you're at .145 It's definitely enough preload. More than necessary imo.

If the problem persists I would recommend removing the lifters and tearing them apart to inspect the plunger. More than a handful of times I've seen lifters with debris in them from the manufacturer

So I idled bike last night to see if bike would quiet down if lifters pumped up. Bike sounded pretty bad - a lot of clatter and other knocking noise coming from intake. Then I noticed pretty bad oil leak. Shut it down very disappointed.

Today, I ran to dealership and bought all new pushrod O-rings, hoping the leak was a bad O-ring, but I was not sure, as I had also installed a SS engine bolt kit the other day. Before redoing the pushrods, I decided to do a compression test. With all the noise and issues I was having with pr adjustment, I was getting nervous maybe I had bent a valve in the rear cylinder. I just did the test with ACR’s in place - 150 psi front and rear. Great start to working on bike - having to pull and possibly pull heads had me worried.

Then I started on pr’s - job went very quick and everything went smooth and as expected. Pushrods tightened up nicely with 3.5 turns, bled down and spun by finger. Everything about the job was good - I had some problems finding the rocker arms sockets previously, but this time the pr’s seated easily. Got dark, so I saved clipping the pr covers in until tomorrow. No point struggling in the dark. I’ll start bike tomorrow, but am confident I finally got it right based on how it went back together. Oh yeah, oil leak was a top pr o-ring that got pinched and cut.

That happens when you put the orings in the heads and not on the tubes first. Same with the bottom ones.

Never had any problem with putting the orings in the head or lifter block first, that's not the reason they get cut. I'm reminded of that commercial, "square peg round hole, keep pounding Jimmy!"

Not sure what brand they are but I've never had that issue as well.. Wondering if the o-ring is a little thinner than Cometic and the inner tube slipped out when try to install the clip.. The fit should be as snug so that you'll actually hear and feel a little snap or pop when the tube is seated in the head..

I should've said a lot less likely to happen.
The only time I ever had one cockeyed and leaking was putting them in the lifter block first and I was told at that time by a prominent builder here that's why. Sonething about catching the oring with the edge of the tube. Made sense to me and still does.

Pushrod o-rings is one place where I always just use MoCo parts. I've even reused some on my own bikes if not too old. Never a problem. You can feel them pop in. Would take a determined effort to cut a top one. Never seen any blue ones. They look kinda thin
Had a new 2313SEL recently not pump up. Reset, still no dice. Replaced with another new and all is okay now. I'll take it apart soon and see what's up or not up

I bought all new HD o-rings. Started bike today after work - bike started fast and idled great. Slight lifter tick, but much noises are much better than before. I think it will quiet down some more after day little run time. Either way, I adjusted pushrods 3.5 turns and am not touching them again before getting it tuned this Monday. After the last couple weeks, not taking any chances. Bike actually sounds pretty good, considering it is not dialed in. Can’t wait to get it tuned.

I have those same lifters going in real soon S&S quickies too so I'm on board with the .125, I have seen directions that call for anywhere from .060 all the way up to .140.
So I'm going on the advice, suggestions, etc. of a select few that confirmed my .125 preload.
