Default Shut off valve in oil feed line

Anyone try running a shut off valve in the oil feed line off tank of a Softail to keep it from draining when it sits? I never really had this issue til going to a 3 stage pump. Now it drains rather quickly. Of course it returns rather quickly too with the improved scavenging but I'd rather it didn't drain in the first place.

I guess the oil light would remind you if you forgot to turn it back on ...

Thought about that. Wonder why this seems to be more an issue now than before.
I remember someone saying the wavy washer in the stock pump keeps it from draining. R&R said they're on drugs tho and it has nothing to do with it. Just depends on where the gerators stop.

If you go this way, a reminder item will be a must.

I think of the guys at the bar, with the old bikes, who would forget to turn gas on. Though that is just funny, when they forget, no harm

A lot of guys use these; myself included. You would have to be blind to forget to remove.

I have a gearotor pump on my bottom breathing Evo with gravity fed oil tank. I clamp the feed line if gonna sit for a bit. My problem is it also kicks oil out the breather instead of just returning. If it just returned to tank. Don't know if I would bother.

I have fielded many calls from customers about low oil and then over filled after they start. Always remember to check oil at running temp.

^Yep this ^ It does puke some out the breathers too at first which is the real issue with it draining. Especially when I get no puking out of them at all otherwise.
Does pinching them off eventually cause the hose to weaken there? I would think so and why I thought of a shut off valve.
The two ends of the hard lines almost touch too. Not leaving much hose to pinch. But either way I'd have to do something about that so.

We have this conversation all the time with Flatheads, famous for sumping. Not a fan of it, that one time you forget might cost you more than a quart of oil on the ground.
