It been kind a slow on the work for the DX, Had other projects plus the weather has been good. I have all the parts except I need to make cylinder dowel pins.. The part of the project I've been stewing over was correcting the balance on the crank. The Wiseco pistons, rings, pins and clips weight 1080 grams for the pair and Stock 88 ci pistons, rings, pins and clips weight 1200 grams. Need to account for the 120 gram difference. I calculated the balance factor for 1200 grams and checked the balance. The wheel balanced right at 52% with the correct weigh added. Early TC cranks had the halves of the crank balanced separately, You can tell by observing that the drill holes were in different locations on the different sides. Since I don't want to disassemble the crank, the way to balance it was to remove the same amount of material from both sides and at the area opposite the crank pin.
Love the balance stand. I have a 16" x 24" 4" thick pink granite on a 1.250" aluminum tooling plate with tri adjusters, old school Rowe cast iron ground parallels with the S&S balance weights kit I use to balance the old 5 piece flywheels and the big old heavy iron Rowe truing stand with the one touch indicators I set up for it.
Probably be putting all that up for sale in the future a bit. Doubt I'll be doing anymore deep blueprinting on engines again. Stuffs been in the garage attic 10yrs now.

For a lubricant / cylinder prep. I know some like Dawn and hot water but I've always used mineral sprits and a soaked rag with a good scrubbing. The MMO floats what left and for me it makes a good break-in oil. Rings get it also.
Degreeing the cams. They cam out as..
Front Rear
IO 21 BTDC 21 Spec 22
IC 50 ABDC 50 Spec 50
EO 52.5 BBDC 51.5 Spec 52
EC 21 ATDC 21 Spec 20
Add: Woods 9B
All numbers were within a degree.

Been busy doing other things. Spent some time off-roading and needed to get things ready. Trailer needed new tires. When I got back, I wanted to fix a few issues with the trailer before I forgot.
Since the 116 cylinders were about 0.2 inches longer than the stock cylinders, I need to shorten the intake manifold.
I have a fixture that allows me to cut down the manifold. It requires about 0.075 per side for the manifold to fit.
