Default Tc3 cam chest and crank runout

My 107 twin cam build has twisted the crank and now has .007 crank runout. Pulled it apart because it started pinging and found the cylinders scored. I have the S&S TC3 cam plate and oil pump, Woods cams and lifters, Fuel Moto heads.

My question is what is going to be reusable. With the metal debris from the cylinders floating around, are the cam plate and oil pump toast? Oil pressure was still good. What about the lifters?

Welcome to the Forum from Colorado!
I suppose it depends on how much you trust your ability to get the various pieces clean as new.
How bad is the bushing in the cam plate scored?
You'll have to pull apart the oil pump and see how bad the housing is scored.
Pull apart the lifters to clean and see if there is any damage in them.
Will the possibility of not getting all this clean be floating around in the back of your mind every time you ride?
Good luck with your build and be sure to come back with pics, we love a good build thread.

I'd be worried about the stuff you can't get to easily to clean. Rod bearings and the bearings at each end of the flywheel

I want to see the piston skirts and cylinder scoring before making a judgement on how to proceed. Just because the cylinders are scored does not mean there is metal debris traveling in the oil. Go to the Blackstone website and order an oil analysis. They will send you a free "test kit" so you can collect a sample and send it back for analysis. The analysis will tell you if there is metal traveling in the oil. Check the cam chest components as has been suggested for an damage/wear from the crank runout but at .007", those components might be OK. Waif for the oil analysis to make a decision on how to move forward with the repair.

It depends on how much crap went through the pump. You need to remove and inspect. Besides checking gerotor wear surfaces in the pump and plate, Check the crank bushing clearance and plate surface where the plate sits against the cases. Under extreme conditions the bushing can wear and the plate actually move.

Are you using the run out measurement to say the crank is twisted or have you verified this another way? How far have you pulled it apart? Just the top end off? Split the cases and inspected the crank? I'm going to assume you had a previous run out measurement to be concerned with the .007" you have now. As others have suggested pics of the parts you're concerned about will go a long way to determine what to do going forward

Drop the oil pan will tell you what you need to know. Needs to come off anyway.

.007 is well within tolerance for chain cams. Not necessarily a twisted crank

.007" run out by today's standard is not that far out.. unless you had the crank done by Dark Horse or some one else..
