Default 1981 shovelhead oil lines

was wondering if anyone could help me with my 1981 FLT oil lines, "underneath the engine" next to oil pump back right side there are 2 oil line fittings next to each other, one has the rib on it to keep hose on when tightening, the other has a no rib to keep hose on, trying to figure out what these 2 are for, any help will be appreciated

The fitting with the 1/4 NPT is a breather, the fitting with the 1/8 NPT is oil return from primary

Prodrag, thanks for the response, so the one without rib which is outboard (next to oil pump) in the pic is another breather?? so there's a breather on the top of the oil pump and this one in this pic is another breather??? and the one with the rib is a return from inner primary?? the one you are saying is a breather when I hooked up that way and shut engine off drips oil out of it pretty heavily, when engine is running no oil comes out, this has me very confused, tried different ways

Thanks all for the response, I made this 81 FLT into a 85 FLT, eliminated the chain, put new swing arm, bought a 85 and put this on my 81, along with newer style front brakes (forks etc). here is a hand mock up of my engine, mine is quite abit different looking, but here you go, Thanks to all in advance for your help.

Assuming there was no changes from my 79 engine to your 81
Your "breather fitting to atmosphere" is wrong, that goes to your vent on your oil tank, not to atmosphere. This should go in to a "tee" with your primary vent.
Your "barbed fitting" is your crankcase vent, that goes to atmosphere.

Thanks to chopper man, breather hooked up properly, now I found out what the other fitting is for, it's the chain oiler reservoir, these FLT's had the most stupid chain oiler, says in book when piston is in upstroke it draws vacuum from chain oiler, when down stroke what ever oil this drew from chain oiler it is dispersed into gearcase, can I block this off??? or can I hook it to vent line??

Help bike is ready to ride finally
