Default 2020 M8 Lifter Failure

Hello All

At just under 10,000 miles on a stock twin cooled M8 a lifter came apart.
Spread pieces throughout (of course).
Dealer has indicated they will put a new motor in (at this point). We'll see what MOCO does.
Bike has never seen over 3,500 RPM
Oil changed at 500, 1,000, 3,002, 5,175 & 8,674
Anyone else have lifter failure this early?

That sucks. Why aren't you getting over 3,500 rpm's? Ride that thing...

What about while you're accelerating to get up to speed?

Cheers!

Stock lifters suck. I changed over to WFOlarry's Johnson-Hylift at 2000 miles. Wasn't too hard as I had a Tq cam installed at 1000 with adjustable pushrods. 17 RK

Tell them to put you a 131 on.

Tried that.
Harley wants them to put in a long block (114 as was the original)
The Stage III would serve me better
Either way the lifter should not have come apart.

Yep, same thing happened to my 2020 fat boy. I brought it to the dealer in October with top end noise. The dealer said we can't get you in for 15 days. 3 days later she broke down on the freeway. MOCO said they are going to send a new short block and new piston rings. Not happy. I bet it breaks again. Getting a lawyer if it does. The bike has 12,000 miles and a stage 2 set up. It was just in 3 weeks before for a 10k service. I over paid for an oil change, that is all they did to it I am sure. Glorified Jiffy Lube Station.
