Default Upgrading a stock 103

2016 Street Glide Special with about 12,000 miles on it. Stage 1 at the moment (Bassani RR3 2-1, SE Intake, Thundermax ECM)

What is the best bang for my buck in terms of building my motor up? I was going to do just cams but figured that might not be enough results. I saw that J&P Cycles has the S&S 110" kit on sale for $2,700. and figured that would be a nice winter project in the garage That kit comes with the S&S 585 cams. Would this be a good option for me? Would it be a good idea to replace the heads as well while doing all that work? Are they any other things that should be upgraded with this work like the throttle body size, injectors? Maybe there an entirely different path I should consider?

Thanks

Plenty of improvement to be had with cams only

Did you review Fuel Motos 103" cam comparision ?

You know, I might just stick with this. I think the 110" build + accessories would add up $$$ real quick. Almost better off just purchasing a complete 124" at those price points. I have looked at their 103" cam comparison briefly, I'll check it out again. Who do they present as best for stock compression and spirited riding?

All cams are tested in the same stock compression bike
They indicate which are for torque and which are preferred for "hot rods"

The S&S MR103 might be a good fit for your style of riding.

Drop in cam with a tune will give pretty good results. But for some real bang for the buck you should get in touch with scott at hillside or Kirby at veetwin, either one of those guys will custom tailor a setup to your needs and budget...not just sell you a "kit". Youll probably even be surprised at the cost too.

Personally, I'd go for a 107 kit, and have someone do the heads. Bump the CR to about 10.5 to 10.8 and use a cam selected by whoever does the heads. Not sure if the stock throttle body is sufficient. Ask the guy that does the heads.

Why a 107 kit over a 110 kit? Just curious.

The 107 kit uses the stock cylinders. Only need to bore them out.

Also the SnS kit, you really don't need the gear drives. , oil pump or cam plate.

Another option could be to contact Fuelmoto. Get the kit from them. They could supply you with a map for the Tmax. IIRC they've done a few with the Bassani.

S&S 570s make a nice bolt in cam on a stock 103. They're in that exhaust shootout.
