Default Gear oil smell

I have a 2015 SGS and when I ride and pull over for gas or lunch etc. I get a gear oil smell.. I look all over and no leaks and also look for an oil level rise and nothing..any ideas?

I don't know about the 2015 models but 2004 has a rubber vent line on the top of the transmission. you using gear oil in there?

What brand of oil in transmission? I ran Redline for awhile but it had an awful odor. I have since replaced it and the smell went away.

The smell is coming from the vent; nothing to worry about. Ride your bike and enjoy it.

That "rotten egg" smell, is the sulphur that's part of the "extreme pressure" additive package that most all gear oils. Nothing to worry about, as long as you aren't leaking.
