Default Oil change 1980 Sportster

Hi. My first post here as a rookie HD owner.

About to change oil on my 1980 sporster. I noticed that the oil line from bottom of oil tank leads directly to the oil pump. Do i disconnect hose at inlet to pump to drain oil?

Should be a dead-end hose to the frame in back of the primary cover.

I guess if i fill the hose and let new oil reach pump before starting there should not be any air trapped.
Is it important to disconect the return line and bleed out all the old oil?
