Default 88 to 100 upgrade with cams

I've done some searching but i can't find much info on the question i have. i'm going to be installing a full feuling camchest kit with 574 camshafts in my 04 road king. i'm also going to be adding 100ci S&S jugs that, with the stock heads, should give me a 10.5:1 compression. I'm not going to have the fundage to get a complete head porting and valve job - but i know i need to do the valve springs to accommodate the 574 camshaft lifts.

my question, is this build too aggressive without fully building out the heads/porting/valves. also, if i am going in the right direction, what tuner would you recommend. my goal is to do my build but not get stuck having to do the cams twice, I have read some posts where people have to do 2 upgrades to get to their final destination.

all advice welcome!

i just did a similar build and actually dyno tested the cams. they run pretty well, do yourself a favor and contact Kirby and try to add in the money for his street port head job. you will be glad that you did and you will only have to do the job once. the PowerVision or TTS Master tune are gonna be your best choices for tuner hardware(or software, if your dyno guy can do the tune license program).
the build should run well, but you will be limited on hp and tq because of the heads. your 04 heads will need upgraded springs, i use the Kibblewhite behive kit that will accommodate .600 lift. they are cost effective and good quality. get with kirby, he can do his street port job and install the springs for you at the same time, you wont be sorry.

I'm going to be doing almost the same thing unsing the winter power package. Its the cylinders, pistons cams, plate pump and all. S&S 585 cams. The site shows projected compression for stock, ported and s&s heads.
Your stock heads should work with the right springs. May as well try for some port work anyway, if you can afford it.
I'll be doing am '05 Dyna but plan to have a mild port job and repair a leaking seal anyway.

Check out some dyno charts from Steve at gmr. He has done a lot of these kits with stock heads. He is typically getting 100hp with the 585 cam. So head work is worth 15-20hp on a build like this. Those 574 cams are simular to the sns585.
