Default Evo cam Opps !

Ok long story short when trying to change cam in evo the cam came out with the timing cover! Now the part I can not figure out! When the timing marks are aligned the front cylinder is down BDC ! Is that correct because In my brain that doesn’t seem right ? I have search all over on line nothing says anything about where the cylinders should be everything just says align the marks. So am I ok to bolt it back together? The reason I’m questioning this in the past just aligned the marks up pulled old cam out put new cam in. Never paid attention to where the cylinders were with this one I had to turn the motor over to get the marks back in line. Please don’t laugh I’m just trying to make sure I’m doing it right!

it's been a while since did mine...same thing happened to me...I pulled the cover off an the cam came with it....there's a little plug on the primary side you remove to put the motor at top dead center then put the cam/crank/breather gear in with the timing marks aligned...the timing mark on my crank was very faint an hard to see.

Forget about TDC and the flywheel marks on the primary side. Just align the marks on the cam, crankshaft and breather gear in the camchest.
