inner cam gear lash

inner cam gear lash
I've got 0 lash on the inner gears and when I rotate the rear drive gear at one point I can feel it binding. I'll have to get the undersized inner gear, do I only need one of those undersized gears to get the proper backlash on these inner gears?
Is there a particular gear puller I can use to remove the gear from the camshaft, one I might find as a loaner at autozone?

I don't have a good read on how much the gears are binding but its only very slight with camplate installed in the case and the gears are new, I'd run it.. As the motor heats up the lash will become a flea hair looser.. It will likely whine a bit when cold. The binding is right where the keyway is cut in the gear.. They seem to cut the keyway and mark the gear after the gear is cut and process seems to distort the gear slightly.
I've not used the later plain bearing cams but have used a bunch of the early style gear cams. You can get the gear off with a set of bearing knives and streering wheel puller but it's much easier to find someone with a press.
If you need to change the gear, you can get it from pretty much anywhere that deals with SnS.
On line, Phil deals directly with SnS..

The binding of the gears is right where you said. As I spin the rear cam drive gear when i hit that spot its more of a drag than a bind I guess, it is there and I can feel it, but it doesn't stop me from spinning the gear. These are brand new gears, and my first time working with the gears as well. Other than the noise, what are the downsides/risks to running this as is? I think I am going to order the undersize gear anyway and check it out, I spent way too much money on this project to get cheap on a $100 gear now.
