If wanting to seal the base gaskets on an Evo, best to have the non-machined, as-cast bases, machined, that way they are (1)flat, and (2)perpendicular, to the bores.
Then with the use of a Cometic base gasket, you'll be leak-free.
We mount those in a lathe fixture here to perform that procedure.
