Default Exhaust valve damage?

i have a 14Ultra Limited 21k miles. I installed bassani road rage 2-1then I had a bad exhaust leak to find out the rear pipe was really dark then I saw the exhaust valve discolired, it runs good but now noisy like a intermittent rattle , did I damage the valve? What else Should I check for?

Can I just pull the head and replace the valve be machine whatever needs to be done and be done with it? Or should I do anything else while I have it apart nd what gasket

Compression test it. leak down test it. check the numbers to what they should be. if valve is not sealing, head will have to be pulled, valve springs removed, the valve seat cleaned and cut. the valve will need to be cleaned and cut. if on a tight budget maybe lapping the valve will work. it's not hard to do and there's youtube videos on lapping valves. id put new valve seals on it while im at it. or send it to a machine shop to have it all done. new headgasket, new pushrods and tubes if you go the route of cutting the existing ones to avoid pulling the tank.

Are you running an aftermarket tuner on the bike? If not, you should be!

Yes I am running a thundermax which I have had issues but I am on a mission to make it work, the engine has always had a rough idle but still runs good
