Default FXR engine riddle

Hi,

I bought a custom made FXR earlier this year. Now im seeking
an answer to engine questions... Bike is build in Usa at 2003,
then brought to Finland and im the second owner. Engine block and transmission
are from Delkron, problem is that theres no markings on cylinders and heads.
Bike is working fine, mileage only ca.3000ml. Engine has power pretty
much, hasnt been in dyno yet but estimated 95-100hp
from the wheel.

So if anyone knows who made them i would be more than thankful!

Thanks in advance,

Riku

Any small shop could have assembled the motor.. It's likely all custom parts from some place that was building special construction motorcycles. The US Feds / EPA killed production of custom bikes like this around 2004-5 by requiring any production motorcycle to pass smog. Before that if the numbers were below something like 300 a year, no smog was required. If the cylinders / heads don't have any markings, they might be stock.. If the motor has some getup and go it might have an 89 ci stroker crank and head work in it.. Looks to have a stock HD CV carb on it..

Thanks!

Only markings on cylinders are in a hole top of the exhaust hole.
Rear and back- text and nr. 4001, also something smaller deeper in there
but cant see what it is...

And yes, carb has hd- labels all over it

This is my first bike and it has enough power for starters, 2nd gear wants to pull
front wheel up...

And im driving it happy till it needs to be opened, after
that ill be wiser...

Cool

Riku, Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. The Delkron cases look as if they were made to allow for much bigger bores than your cylinders have! I would guess your bike has stock cylinders and possibly a stroker crankshaft. It is interesting that the timer cover has no fixing screws, there normally being two, so it may have an electronic ignition system that is not intended to be messed with!

The only way to learn more is to strip it, but if it is running well.....

Riku,

Your posting brought back memories as my previous bike was an 82 FXR, though that was with a Shovelhead motor from the factory. Even with a stock motor that bike was a blast to ride!

BY the pics I would guess that is the engine case below D1042 standard bore Evolution engine case. These where sold as engine cases only so as noted earlier you could have a stroker kit, etc? The cylinders look stock and polished as was the balance of the motor. Possibly standard bore 3.500" ?

Ok, thanks, I put email to Delkron if they have any idea
about the engine or block...

But mainly, bike works fine and goes like hell so
I'll be happy with it, maybe mysteries will reveal
some day..?

And Moose, thanks, also very pleased the way its done,
And as my friend said only negative is that its more or
less ready But maybe after 1st season I'll figure out
something small to do to it...
