Seems like a well made piece. As I mentioned earlier, I wish it physically bolted to the manifold, instead of just having a seal friction fit, but it seems to work fine.

I love it. I'm almost ashamed to admit I've only put about 3k miles on it, mostly just back and forth to work with a couple 400 mile trips. It's got a little bit of a valvetrain tick around 2000rpm, I might try readjusting the pushrods to see if I can get that to go away. Otherwise trouble free.

I spent way more money on the whole deal than I should have, but it puts a smile on my face every time I twist the throttle. There's no question it's got plenty of power. Anything more than this would just be for bragging rights or racing in my opinion.

3 year check in? About to do something similar to my '09. Going with a Zippers 107 Muscle kit. My crank needs trued, welded and pinned or replaced. Thinking about a Darkhorse howver that makes my budget go way up... Your stuff all still going well? I just spent the last 2 hours reading the entire thread....

I have no complaints. It's given me no trouble at all since the motor build. When I ride it normally it behaves well enough, but I still haven't got bored with how it pulls when I crack the throttle, especially in higher gears.

Honestly, I probably would have been fine with something a little milder/cheaper, but I have no regrets with what I ended up with.

I’ve read this whole post. Love it! I’m about to have a Darkhorse Man-o-War crank installed on my 110”. I love the power this thing has (117/130) but I worry about screwing up my investment. I’m also doing a Trask billet clutch basket and an S&S cam plate with oil pump. I’ve already done the Darkhorse compensator sprocket, 9 plate Kevlar clutch plates and an AIM vpc. I wish I had done it all at once, but I didn’t, so now I’m paying for labor twice. I wish I had your know how and patience. But alas, I DON’T. Anyway, I enjoyed your thread.

OP - No doubt you built a great motor and did it the right way. I just have to throw this out there, what would the cost difference be between what you did and just buying an S&S long block? I'd have to guess pretty similar, minus a whole lot of labor.

That's a good question. I probably could have bought a complete motor for around what I have into this one, but what's the fun in that? Someone once told me "It doesn't take any talent to write a check to have someone do it for you" and I've lived my whole life by that mantra. Sometimes to my detriment.

If you can do all that internal work on your own, you can install a crate motor yourself.
