Best cam install kit?

After I bought the whole kit and ended up being left with a bunch of unused parts, I say you are better off buy it piece by piece. If you are gonna cut the rods to go with adjustable ones you will waste all the top end gaskets. SE rods are fine, comes with o rings, cam cover gasket, new bearings, might need a shim for the cam chain. Oil pump o rings as well...you can get most if not all at your dealer for very little.
Look at the parts break down before you start with the parts person in the book or on Ronnies parts fiche....this way you will age all the parts to start and finish...only variable is the gear shim if you need one. You will only know when installing with feeler gauges what thickness you will need if any.

I put an S&S 510G gear driven cam kit in my '05 Softail Deluxe last year at about 40k miles. Cut the original pushrods and replaced with S&S standard adjustable pushrods and covers. I bought the parts from amazon. It worked out. Bearings came in the kit. Have a shop press and an inner cam bearing removal tool. Measure crankshaft runout with a dial gauge. Harbor freight has a halfway decent 1 for $35 with a gooseneck clamp. I kept the original lifters. Make sure you really tighten the locknuts on the adjustable pushrods. I had 1 come loose and the rod collapsed down. It caused a rattle and a temporarily dead cylinder. But it fixed easily.

i reused the stock push rods on my install. it saves quite a bit of money and removing the rocker boxes and rocker arms is not a hard task. adjustable push rods are needed in a lot of builds, but if installing a cam only with the same base circle diameter than reusing stock push is the way to go.

I had all the top end stuff leftover because I didn't take the valve covers off, wasn't S&S . Did I just ask for the wrong kit maybe....just seemed like a waste.

If you end up with more pronounced valve train noise as many do, and want to do the Rockouts, its nice to know you have all the gaskets.
I bought the cometic kit from Fuel Moto. It comes with bearings and all except oil pump O ring. 60 bux
