Check Engine Light on new 2016 Softail Slim S
Hi everyone.
I just purchased a new 2016 FLSS, was riding it yesterday to break in the engine and noticed that the check engine light came on, i stopped, turned the engine off and looked around the bike. I didn't notice any leaks so i started it back up it sounded normal and the light came on and went off as it was supposed to but after 20 min or so it came back on.
I rode it back home, didn't notice any issues with sound or performance however it did seem like the gear indicator on the speedo wasnt working properly as it was taking longer than i thought should be normal to determine the gear the bike is in.
After I got back home I turned the bike off and then back on, engine light was not on but i'm sure if i was to ride it it would come back on. I checked the battery connections and they were tight, I then checked the Diagnostic Codes and this is what i got:
ECM P0572, U0001, U0140, U0141, U0142, U0156, END: PN 001242-01
BCM 62112, 62146, 62151, 62271, U0001, END: PN 69993-11C
SPDO 61210, END: PN 70700-118
ABS C1094, END PN 40800043
I have already called the dealership and they are coming to get it tomorrow.
Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this. How concerned should i be...I'm already pretty concerned.
New bike, its 70 degrees today and I cant ride...im not happy to say the least.

Well, if its anything like a car, the check engine light indicates a problem with emission controls, regardless of the Mike Ditka doom and gloom TV commercial trying to sell repair insurance. The pretty days are gone for awhile (here in Va) so maybe they will have it fixed before nice weather returns. I rode 50 miles today and got so much pollen in my beard I had to wash it out to stop sneezing repeatedly.

One thing i did fail to mention, i did notice some oil between the feed line and return line oil line fittings near the crankcase. When i mentioned this to the dealer i was told that this was normal in softails because of the assembly processes however i expressed that this was not oil that had been on the case for a while and looked fresh, in addition i checked the area just before the dealer left with it and it appeared as if there had been more accumulation since initially noticed so i informed them of that also. They wont be able to start work on it till next week but i will update.

UPDATE:
Apparently there were 2 wires that were crossed in the wire housing, somehow made it out of that factory that way. Crazy how 2 wires in the wrong place can toss out that many codes.
Regarding the gear indicator, you have to let the clutch out all the way before it will register the gear.
The oil on the side by the lines seems to be par for the course as stated by Harley and several posts on this site as a result of the manufacturing process and should be cleared out by 1000 miles.
