So I have an 88 and am looking to upgrade the motor to 96. I have a local shop that can upgrade the OEM parts (heads, cams, pistons, etc) or I can get an S&S hot setup kit and keep the OEM parts as is. What would be the better way to go kit or rework?

thanks

Rework. Talk to Scott/Hillside or Kirby/VeeTwin Performance about their offerings. Both are forum sponsors and have package deals that are reasonably priced.

Bore your cylinders to 98", with a head/cam/compression set for your riding wants/needs.
Happy to help.

It's always best to work with what you have. You don't need the added expense of new jugs etc. Not only that your guaranteed that the pistons will fit the jugs....
