That is what I did when putting cams in and it is holding just fine. The increase in lever pressure is minimal.

Along with proper clutch adjustment, a heavier spring is all you need (as long as you haven't smoked the stock plates), if the stock plates are smoked, (the stock plates are hardy units) i recommend the Alto Carbonite Plate Kit, much less expensive than HD.

Also be sure that your aftermarket Cable has the same throw as the OE Cable, A bud of mine (tons of miles since the PanHead days) had a Harley Dealer change the bars on his then new '13 Limited with the 555s, Pipe & Tuner, and had nightmares with the clutch until 2 years later, an Indy pointed out that Harley has Cables with different throws, even on the same bike / model... After the proper (throw) cable was installed no more clutch issues...

If you smoked your plates take a look at Energy One clutch kits.

put a SE clutch spring in it. If the clutches are burnt replace them.

So many just throw in a SE spring and that will hold but the pull can be a bit much for some. The AIM 340lb spring will hold quite a bit and as you stated the increase in lever pull is barely noticeable.
