Cost of engine work if I buy 2006 FXDL with 40,000 miles?
I'm interested in this 2006 FXDL at a Harley dealership. It has about 40,000 miles on the bike. When will the bike need motor work usually? Usually what kind of motor work would it need, and roughly what would it cost? They're asking $8,900 for the Harley. Is there any issues on the 2006 motor?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Twin cams have been known to go well over 100,000 miles if properly taken care of. If it needs it, a new top end re-freshening will run you about $1000 or so. Ask the dealer if the cam chain tensioners have been changed out, they usually start to go south @ 30,000 miles, if they say they don't know, walk away from it. Bikes worth $6,500-7 as it sits.

My 2003 has 35k miles and is running better than ever. But I have a good mechanic and have it serviced religiously . I had the SE Cam Chain Hydraulic Tensioner Upgrade done at 30 k.
***** you seem to be having a hard time finding a decent bike. Why don't you go to some dealerships and find a salesman you like, tell him what your looking for, and let him find you a bike?
If this bike has good maintenance records, pay a mechanic to check it out: http://toronto.craigslist.ca/mss/mcy/5595043044.html
