Default 96 CI Heads vs. 103 CI Heads

What are the differences between the 2007 96" heads and the newer 103 heads other than front head motor mount hole and ACRs?

Are the combustion chambers the same size? Are the valves the same.

I am installing 103 jugs and pistons on a 2007 St Glide, and planned on using a SE-255 set of cams for low end grunt. That is where I ride. I am a heavy guy and want the low-end torque.

Cams and cylinders are installed along with lifters. Heads now have manual CRs. Ready to put them on but want to use the best head gasket thickness for the build. Pistons are down .006 & .007.

Trying to figure which head gasket to use while considering compression and squish. Which way do I need to go?

Started on this build thinking I had it figured out because there was a PCIII map with all components I am using. ???

Manufacturing tolerances aside, the heads are the same; same chamber volume and same valve size. Having said that, the only way you will know true chamber volume is to measure. I have seen TC chamber near 90cc; certainly the exception to the rule but it does happen. I already expressed an opinion on compression and cams in your other post.

The thinnest i would go with that cam is .040. Assuming the heads are 85cc that'd put just under 200 ccp at sea level. Get it dyno tuned by somebody who knows his sh*t.

Cc the heads, dont guess.a.030 would set the squish up best, but you dont want to run the compression up too high.BTW,ide go with the S&S .551's over the SE 255's

When i enter the 551s into the calculator my compression goes up even more. Why do you recommend those cams? I am trying to go the other way. Thanks!

Set the squish up with gasket and deck height, set comp up with head cc/pistons and cam selection. Don't set up comp with HG. I would look at andrews 48's as well.
