Default Hylift Johnson lifter feed hole 90 degrees out

Ready to drop the new Hylift Johnson lifters in and I noticed the feed holes are 90 degrees out from the stock lifters I pulled out. Is this an issue or doesn't it matter where the hole is? Just checking before putting everything back together. Here's a couple pics. The new one is on the left.

I replaced my lifters with S&S when changing my cam. They have the same issue. I want to say the hole faces the inside centerline of the bike. Then again I think the consensus at the time was it didn't really matter either.

Thanks for the reply. I've been reading some older threads and I guess the consensus is it doesn't really matter. Kinda confusing though since the service manual says to face the hole inboard like it matters. But, how do you face it inboard when the stock lifter hole faces front or back?

Hole orientation does not matter. The oil will enter the galley, fill the port and the lifter under pressure.

I went through the same thing when I did my cams, lifters, etc.... the pros say it doesn't matter.

The orientation comments were a leftover in the manual from EVO days where the oil fed right into the lifter. It's a non-issue on Twin Cam.

Okay, but since it's the service manual, I would think it would be,... oh I don't know,.. correct!! It's hard enough to figure out what I'm doing here without outdated info in the manual.

Well, technically it is correct. So is putting them in the opposite way.

Service manual says "install lifters in the crankcase bores with the oil hole on the inboard side and the flats on the lifters facing forward and rearward". With the stock lifters, that's impossible to do, therefore incorrect and confusing to an inexperienced person. If it doesn't matter, it should say that.
