I personally would think about going 107" along with cams & headwork, but with the right headwork & compression set @ 10.0-1.there are a fair amount of cams out there that will work very well.S&S .570,andrews 54,fuelling 574

+1 on the 48's. Drop them in to keep yourself happy for now. They are a huge improvement over stock, then save your $$$$ for a stout 107 build. That is plan, especially since the army is putting me up in upstate NY, only an hour from Scott at hillside!

As others have said, if you're going to go to all the trouble of swapping out the heads and cams, it's a no-brainer to just go ahead and bump it up to a 103" or a 107". Just a few hundred more than what you're planning on now!

Most of the motor is already apart, it's only another half hour to do the jugs and pistons. Truly a no brainer.......

I followed these guys advice in the past and put in the 48s and am very pleased, but I didn't remove the heads. I am still considering some 103 pistons in the future as they really are inexpensive. One of the better tuners in Detroit had the opinion that simply replacing pistons to go to a 103 with an 030 head gasket was a good bang for the buck upgrade for a guy looking for more torque on a dresser. Good Luck.

I'd go along with the others in their opinions of just getting a 107 kit with the right cams and call it a day.
I wish I would have.

A well-built 107" can show you at/near 130 hp.
Folks, we've seen 125/125-up from 107" carbed engines back in the late 1990's with single-cam powerplants.
Not shocking news here.
