Default woods 777 or S&S 585 cam only

Need opinions from the ones who know better than me... Woods 777 cams or S&S 585 cams in 14 Street glide with exhaust and AC only. Nothing else will be done to the bike at any point. Not mine, but my brothers.

The Wood cam wants 10.4 cr to optimize, and the .585 10.6-10.7.
That 103"er currently sits at 9.6.
The power would be all mid-upper, and actually would not show all that great even spooled off.
A great low-mid range cam for that heavy touring machine would be an Andrews 48.

Thanks Scott.. I'll let him know! On that note, he wants the "lopitity lope" sound, is it possible with that 48?

Wood came out with a bolt in 999.

This one has more compression than stock, but I believe its the higher compression version.

I think The potato sound comes more from the old carbureted bikes. The fuel injection models slightly mimic the potato sound but not really if you know what I mean...

A stock compression motor won't give off a very strong lope because of the low 9.6 ratio, higher comp motors sound great because of the compression along with bigger overlap and duration cams. Your bro has 2 choices, either the right cam for performance with less lope, or the wrong cam for stock comp with slightly better lope (either lope affect will be minimally noticed at 9.6 comp). Lope priority is a bad reason to choose a cam, unless it's a high comp motor then the options are many.

Here's my SG with cyclerama 575 cams and stock heads, not a bad lope for stock comp cams (low overlap, but the asymmetric lobes add some lumpiness), hope this helps. Also gobs of low-mid range power.

Whats not to like about the sound of that bike!!? That smoke is fuel smoke, may be a tad rich at idle, but more than likely needs to fuel for the big end

Thanks! I did change hg to .030 which adds about .2 compression, but basically ya it's stock.
