Default 05 sportster cutting out at highway speeds

I was riding home from work tonight and my bike started cutting out on me. I was cruising along at 65 in fifth gear and my bike just cut out on me. I let on the throttle and got back in it and it took off again a few seconds later it did it again. This time I just gave it more throttle and it took back off again. It did this about 5 times. I didn't have this issue going about 30 mph. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Sounds to me like a fuel problem. I am going to ask the obvious...is there plenty of gas in it? I am not sure what speed would have to do with that, but still that would be the most obvious thing. If it is low or lower on fuel and you fill it up....does it still do it? I'd investigate that angle first. How many miles on the bike? Has it sat for a long time? Could also need the carb to be cleaned out. If you have a bunch of crap in the float bowl it could work its way into the jets.
