inner cam bearings text face out or in?

RE: inner cam bearings text face out or in?
Generally, it is said to put them facing out. The only reason for that is because that makes it easy to ID them. Otherwise, there is no reason. Turning direction is not a factor. Think about it....On chain cams, they turnthe samedirection. On gear cams, they turn opposite directions.

the torrington 148's have a slightly different shoulder on the non lettered side which apparently makes it easier to get them started in. Everything I have ever read said to have the writing facing out. In reality like some one posted already it should really make no difference other than to be able to identify them later. My buddy was replacing his and we put one inwith the writing facing in and we did not chance it and pulled it out and replaced it with a new one. It did seat fine.

As others have said... "most" install them with the lettering out. I do too.
One other tidbit .... before you install them, spray them out with brake cleaner to get all the thick grease out of them. Let them dry, and add several drops of motor oil to the inside of them just before you install them.

Letter side out. If you look where the printing is you will find it is a flat surface. Look at the other side and you will see it has a rounded profile. You should drive the bearing if by the flat surface and not the rounded sideas that could cause cage damage.
