Default directional wiring plug

I need to replace the wire on the rear directional. Does anyone know how to release the wire plug end clip so the wire and the plug can be separated? I have a 2001 sportster 1200 . The plug is located in the rear taillight assembly.

My bike is later than yours, so I don't know if this will work, but I used a very thin watchmaker's screwdriver, the sort that comes in a set of half-a-dozen or so. There is a tiny tab on the connector that you need to gently depress, to release it. It will pop back in when you reassemble it.
