Voltage spikes and drops
Hey folks, been a while. hope all are well.
Issue:
1) A friend has an 07 Ultra classic, Regulator was changed in 2012.
He is now getting voltage spikes and drops. as high as 16. Bad enough his soney radio got blasted.
Brings it to the dealer and it is fine- while there. they only get a 'Voltage code' from the diagnostic tool.
2) another buddy has a 2012 classic. same issues. not as extreme.
same thing at the dealer.
????
We know it is either regulator or stator.
My thought- Both regs are from the 2012 market frame...... sooo....
was there a bad batch of regulators out there that the public did not know about?
Ideas and thoughts very much welcomed.
Thanks, Sparky.

Well As an Electrician.....
They don't take my advice....
AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!
Seems a no Brainer. To Me.
The Voltage regulator regulates the voltage. The Stator produces it.
Voltage regulation issues....
I go with swapping the regulator.
Voltage is being produced.Even if too much, the regulator is there, Like a ckt brkr. Too much it opens.
if it aint regulated.......
2012- BOTH OF THEM. ( beyond coincidence- IMO) Harley in true fashion bought inferior Overseas parts and wont admit it.( $$$- Which is why they buy overseas to begin with)
(Half the bikes are made in China, 1/3 in Korea or some where else...
Lets not Kidd yourself people) But I digress..
Been wrong before............. That Sea mist....... Nope.
It was a storm Front!! Oh well.
