98 Sportster Tail Light
Hello,
I bought a '98 Sportster 883 a few months ago for my first bike. When I came home the other day my right tail light was hanging on by its wires. I have no idea how to get it back on. I've tried comparing it to the left one and still have no clue how that one is held on either. Does anyone know how I go about fixing this? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The mounting stud may have broken, the nut may have come loose...
You will need to remove the lens to reinstall.

Ok,
I just gave it another look and I have no idea what's wrong. The only thing that would make sense is that it doesn't have a locknut. However, neither does the other side and, to make it even more confusing, there's no room for the locknut anyway. Is it possible these were glued on or something? If so, what would you recommend? Thanks again.

Looks like the threads inside the mounting hole in the lamp housing may have given up, or the threads on the mounting stud.
Take a look and see how they look.
There is a stud running inside the turn signal support that screws into the lamp housing, that is what holds the lamp to the support.
You can see the end of the stud sticking out of the support in the pic.
Then the lamp/support assembly is held to the fender support by a nut.
