Default Security key light

Ok, Im new to this forum and I'm new to own a Harley.
I have a 2003 ultra classic and I really like this bike.
There is a "key" light that comes on the instrument panel when I turn on the ignition, then goes out. Lately it goes out when I start the bike, but the comes back on and stays on.
What is it telling me? Is this serious?
I'm confussed.
I've had the bike for about 10 months and there is still a lot to learn about this thing. I.m the second owner.
Any help for a newcomer?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, the last bike I had used to do the same thing before I had a TSSM installed, if you dont have a security system, it is a non-issue, I wouldn't worry about it.

Do you have the key fob? I have a 2003 with security. To arm it you hold the center button down, til directionals flash twice. To disarm you double click, and it will flash once. If you need details PM me and I can check the manual, but I am out of town til Tuesday.

Thanks so much. I'll try your advise and see if that corrects things. It doesn't seem to effect the way the bike runs. I just wasn't sure why it wouldn't go out again.

TSSM is the turn signal security module, TSM is turn signal module. If you have the HD security you have a TSSM, if not you just have a TSM. Thanks.
