Question Brake light problems

I have a sportster 1200 (89) and just recently got it running again. Replaced the battery, ignition switch, removed gas tank and flushed it, cleaned the carb, replaced rear brake signal, and replaced the battery. All lights were working before I did the work and now that I have the bike up and running, the brake light stays on. Additionally, if I put it in the second position where no lights are on but the bike runs, once I hit either the front or rear brake, all front lights come on in addition to the brake light. I checked the wires to the ignition switch and they are all connected right however the light wire has power. Is it possible it could be rubbing on something? Any thoughts on where I should start?
