Default Horn problems

Can anybody please give me an idea on what could possibly be my problem, my horn on my 2005 fatboy works fine sometimes, then the next time I blow it, it sounds like a sick frog, then again, the next time i blow it, it toots fine. Thanks for any ideas that might put me in the right direction.

check the rubber washer behind the horn. also tightness of bolt holding horn assembly. had the same problem. replaced washer(bushing) adjusted tightness. works fine now

I have purchased new horns across the counter that would not blow. It may very well be what fireinv38 says...try it and see. But, while you have it loose.....look down inside the horn for insect nest (mud-daubers love that space) and squirt some WD-40 down in there and shake it around real good to loosen things up..There is also a "tone" adjustment screw you can play with too. I had one HD mechanic that said his fix was to throw it against the wall and jar it loose. HD horns are practically useless. If you want a good horn....go buy one of the air-horns with the built-in compressor. Just some other junk to fool with, but it will blow on a more reliable basis.

Yep....I am a Harley horn hater. They can't even get that right. I used the WD-40 technique on a buddy's last month and now he is thrilled.
