Cool Passing lights

Anyone know of issues with passing lights and proximity alarms? The previous owner of my bike killed two batteries, the shop said they noticed the passing lights coming on with the key in the off position, then they later replaced the alarm. I noticed the same issue the other day when I was cleaning the bike, the passing lights came on with the key in the off position, turned the key on, then off and they went off, happened a couple of times. Now the passing lights won't come on at all. Any thoughts on what the issue may be? Oh this is on an '07 1200XLR if it matters.

So no one has any suggestions as to where to start with this issue? Guess I'll start by pulling the tank and chasing the wiring when I get home, I would much rather be riding than tinkering.

Exclamation

OK so too many hours with a multi meter testing continuity and voltage only to find that it was the stupid highbeam switch in the relay, if it goes bad again I'm going to hard wire them so they are either on or off enough will all the relay auto shut off crap.
