Default Turn Signal Mirrors

Just bought a 2004 Road King Classic from a private party. 4800 miles, excellent condition, EXCEPT - the turn signal mirrors he had installed while in storage over the winter aren't working properly. The left mirror doesn't blink and the left turn signals blink fast. Additionally, the red security "key" indicator stays on while riding. My local HD service dept recommending getting rid of the mirrors, they say they are noting but trouble. Any advice?

Thanks

97 Dyna Wide Glide and I think I'm tossing my turn-signal mirrors into the shitcan. Nothing but trouble is an understatement. Frying other electrical parts, no stop lights, no turn signals. They suck. Sorry.

Default these are LED lights ???

These are LED lights right ?
Is there not some sort of ballast that needs to be installed with these indicators?
I recall a few years back that aftermarket light sets needed something installed
in order to work with the Harley electrical system.
But, hey if your tossing them, send them my way...

LEDs draw so little power they fool most stock bike or auto store flasher units into thinking a bulb is absent or burned out. So they either don't flash at all or flash too quickly (which with regular incandescent bulbs is the flasher's way of telling you that something's wrong.)

You can buy a LED resistor or a flasher unit with the necessary amount of resistance already built in from most aftermarket suppliers but they are kind of spendy. A fifty cent resistor from Radio Shack will also do the job if you're handy enough . . .

after reading your response here I was wondering how to go about fixing my problem too.Is there an inline adapter that will fix the problem of low draw or a schematic of how to wire up the resistors, any info would be great,Thanks in advance!!!

i just posted a response on another thread a minute ago about re-calibrating your TSSM on bikes where you put other lights on without a load-balancer... try that before you do anything.. it takes about 3 minutes
