Default Auxilary lights

If anyone can help it will be appreciated. Have a 2008 FatBoy, want to put on a set of auxilary lights. Is this something I leave to a tech. to put on or something that a weekend mechanicc (novice) can do? Can the turn signals be switched from the handle bars to the aux. passing lights or will I need to make another puchase of the turn signal kit attachment for the passing lights? From speaking with the sales dept. at the dealer I am being told this can not be done, a separate purchase of the turn signal relocation kit is required. Of course, more money. Thanks in advance for any info.

I haven't installed the aux lights on a fatboy, but I did them on my softail custom last year. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined (more then a novice, far far far from an expert) and it wasn't that hard really. I believe you will need to purchase a turn signal relocation kit to attach the turn signals to the aux lights (I had to on mine). If you're considering doing any type of work on your bike at all then I highly suggest buying the service manual as well.
The installation is pretty straight forward. I had to remove my gas tank to run the power wire so I'm thinking you will too. You'll also need to run a wire into your headlight which means pushing it through an already tight grommet. Other then that it's just a matter of clamping the lights on pretty much.

Thanks for the info. May wait until after the riding season so if I do run into any problems I will not miss much ride time. Thanks again.
