Default OEM AGM Battery or OTHER

Hi,

I am new to the forum. HNY ALL.

I have the original AGM HD battery for last 5-7 years. I typically use trickle charger when not operating etc. Time to buy a new one.

What is the general recommendation just get the OEM AGM version again or are there better and CHEAPER options available? AGM is around $200 tax inclusive here in CA.

Appreciate some recommendations ...

seems the hd is better all around but the cost. i bought the mother of the hd which is deka but it lasted a year less so that suggests that hd holds their feet to the fire on workmanship.

I went with the Batteries Plus Lithium in the fall when when my AGM had a mechanical failure (broken contact in the case. Would go from full voltage to 0 volts when you tap on it). Finished the season on it, put it in the garage and unhooked it. The lithium batteries don't need to be tended for over winter storage. They loose less than 1% a month in storage, unlike a lead acid battery. If you don't have a reason to keep your battery hooked up, and have a lithium, just disconnect it and walk away.

The battery I got from them was $100 more than the AGM alternative, but went from a 1yr free replacement to a 3yr free replacement warranty. Easily worth it to me.

Sitting for a couple weeks, during the riding season, it fired up like normal with no issues. I don't mess around with chargers, tenders etc. Hook it up, ride it. End if the season, disconnect it, done.
