I just installed the Battery Tender LiPO4 battery on my 2019 Deluxe. Sad to say it is causing my ABS warning light to flash intermittently. Apparently the HD system does not read this battery properly and overcharges it, and then causes error codes elsewhere. I have read greater detail of this problem on forums of other brands. Suffice to say I had no problems with my last battery and none since replacing my old battery back in the Deluxe.. Too bad, as I have winter storage issues the LiPO4 could have solved.

 

Ok so what battery do you have? What maintainer are you using? Your post isn't too clear, more of a stream of consciousness.

 

It’s April, why do you have winter storage issues now? FWIW, the lithium’s do not solve issues with parasitic draw.

 

My lithium battery lasted 1 year and 8 months. Stored in a cold garage on the lithium charger, took it off for a few weeks as the weather got warmer and the battery went dead and would not take a charge. I had hoped for good luck, length of life, and went for a reduction of about 15 pounds ish in weight but the battery never lasted. Just some info.

 

My battery is just starting year 2 and totally dead. Put it on tender once per month thru winter but last week it would not take a charge. It is now at Harley dealer to get tested and charged if possible. They suspect the 800ma tender does not put out enough to keep it charged

 

800ma tender should be fine to charge the battery, however if the tender is just for AGM or is set to AGM then you may have issues there. For Lithium batteries you need a tender specific to them. I have a Deltran Battery Tender for Lithium that does a 4A charge. And it has a switching to swap between AGM and Lithium. This is my 3rd year on my Banshee Lithium battery with the bike stored in my garage during the North Dakota winters and I have absolutely no issues. My bike does have Factory Security with the screamer.

 

Sorry I never got back to this thread. Zanthamos, as my thread states, I have a Battery Tender Lithium battery "I just installed the Battery Tender LiPO4 battery on my 2019 Deluxe." As to the question from Trigeezer why I would have winter storage issues in April, I wrote I have winter storage issues. That means in the winter. I didnt say anything about April. I just wrote the post in April. And finally, I use a Battery Tender brand battery tender designed for LiPO4 batteries. Holding a charge or charging the battery was not a problem I experienced or even addressed in the post. Hope this clears things up, not that anyone lost sleep over it, LOL !
