First sign of sluggish start after sitting . I will put it on tender if it does it again It is replaced. For me they seems to last 5 to 7 years easy. Except my 1996 FB First battery lasted 10 years, second 10 years Third is going strong at 5 years. maybe it will make 10.

I've had a motorcycle battery go bad in a couple months for no apparent reason, and the replacement last years. The only thing you could rely on is a kickstarter, but even if they still had those, with fuel injection you still need enough voltage in the battery to run the fuel pump. Best thing is to carry one of those little lithium jumper batteries, should easily get you started unless the battery completely shorts out (yeah, that can happen, but not often, though it can without warning when it does and that did happen to me, fortunately the first time I trailered the bike somewhere so getting it home was easy. Hooking them up on some bikes can be a pita sometimes, but still better than being stranded. I have one bike with a carb and a kick starter, and I don't even think about the battery on that one, if/when it quits, I'll just order another one when I get home. Hmm, and that's an old battery now, over 5 years, but not worried about it, it'll start anyway.
