Default 98 Evo....How much power can I have?

1998 Wide Glide with, I assume the stock 32 amp stator.

Reckon how many amps can I SAFELY tap off while I'm cruising?

Is there a hi-amp stator available?

I'm gonna be using it for cruisin and campin, I'd like to run some USB chargers is all. I really just want a ballpark number, to know kinda where I stand, and what kind of options I could have if I wanted to.

For example, my truck runs a 200 amp alternator, dual batteries, onboard 1500 watt invertor, microwave, blender, and really anything i want. I don't want to put a microwave on a Wide Glide, but I'd like to understand my charging system and available electricity.

not apples to apples.
figure your total load on the machine and subtract that from the 32 amps and then subtract another 20% to assure proper battery charging, left over is what you can safely use.
the hd system is a PMG and not an alternator, it has no field forcing capabilities. the pmg is more efficient mid rpm range or normal cruse range for most people.
if you want upgrades, look for a 3ph high output system. for usb charging, solar works well and is free energy in daylight hours, always can have booster batteries on stby.
if you run multiple batteries, you might want to run isolators between them so you can always select and keep a starting battery up.

Yeh, $439 ain't gonna happen for that upgrade, but thanks for the link.

Any way to figure out the load of the stock machine? It sure ain't jumpin out at me

the easy way would be to install an inline amp meter, crank the machine with everything on at high idle, read meter.
hard way is to see what bulbs you are using and look the info up online for amp draw. for the ign, you can safely use 5 amps and the ecu probably another 3>4 amps. always allow 20% for proper battery charging.
if you have the owners manual, they sometimes list bulbs and wattage.
have you tried googling your model and amp draw as someone probably has done the work. if i have info in my library, would be service.

The HD system is most certainly an alternator.

The HD system produces alternating current, which is converted to direct current by the rectifier.

In a generator, the windings spin, the magnets are stationary.

In an alternator the windings are stationary (stator) and the magnet spins (HD system).

OP: you`re not going to overload your stock charging system by running usb chargers.
