I have a 2006 Ultra Classic, 2 months ago i installed new bars & an aftermarket stereo and everything worked just fine until last weekend, while out riding i switched my bike on and heard a pop, but the bike started just fine, i started riding then noticed that my stereo & instrument's weren't working so i pulled over in a parking lot and checked the fuses, i blew 2 fuses, i know one was to the radio and i think the other one was for the instruments, once i replaced the fuses everything was working again but now they will not shut off and the lights on the back of my tour-pack and saddle bags stay on even when i turn the ignition to the off position. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I pulled the main fuse so it wouldn't drain my battery.

 

I would check in the area where you wired the new handlebars first as I suspect that is where the fault is? Otherwise I would use a wiring diagram and trace both circuits where the fuse blew.

 

You probably pinched 2 power wires together and that caused the overload killing the fuses, one power wire is probably always hot thus keeping the lights lit.
