Cranking over issue
Hey all,
2009 Nightster with 6500mi. Original HD battery. Voltage looked ok but the bike sounded weak sometimes and would go to start, sound like it was choking, but finally start up. Keep in mind it never did NOT start, but sometimes it was quick and fluid, other times it sounded like it was struggling.
I swapped in a new battery, and thought the issue was solved. Well since then a few times its done the same thing. Infact, even with the new battery it has once even started to crank, went completely silent for a good 1 second and i thought it wasnt gonna start, then it finally kicked through. Any ideas what this could be? Im basing this issue off of sound and the fact my buddies 2009 nightster with 20,000k seems to always start instantly real fast.

What type battery did you buy, a name brand or an el cheapo?
Remove the battery, fully charge it and have it load tested (auto parts store will do this for free).
It is not uncommon to get a new battery that is bad...
Remove the battery cables and clean all battery cable connections.
Install battery and perform a charging system test.
